Assistance in Activities of Daily Living

Healthy meals and delicious snacks
Our meals are thoughtfully prepared with a balanced diet in mind, tailored to meet the nutritional needs of seniors. We accommodate special dietary requirements as prescribed, ensuring every bite supports health and wellness.
Medication Management
Trained staff members assist with medication reminders and administration, ensuring no pill is missed and traced. To enhance accuracy and safety, we utilize AI-assisted software to track medication schedules, dosages, and compliance—providing an added layer of confidence and efficiency. All practices are performed in compliance with state regulations to provide safe and effective medication management.
Room Cleaning and
Laundry
Cleanliness is comfort. We maintain spotless private and shared living spaces and ensure all linens and personal clothing are regularly washed, folded, and neatly arranged.
Assistance in Medical and Dental Appointments
Whether it’s scheduling, transportation, or coordination with healthcare providers, we assist residents in managing their medical and dental appointments with ease and reliability.
Planned Activities
We offer a variety of engaging activities to enrich daily life, including weekly visits to nearby senior activity centers, outdoor picnics in the park, indoor tabletop games, group social activities, and strength and memory-enhancing exercises. These activities are designed to promote mental stimulation, physical wellness, and joyful connection.
Virtual Family Connection Space
We offer a dedicated area equipped for virtual visits, so residents can stay connected with loved ones—wherever they are—through video calls in a private and comfortable setting.
Therapy dogs
Animal-assisted activities. Yes, Therapy dogs available. Research has shown that interaction with therapy dogs significantly boosts mood, feelings of well-being and happiness.

BEDRIDDEN
According to California regulations, a “bedridden” resident is defined as someone who requires assistance with turning and repositioning in bed and is unable to leave the bed voluntarily due to physical limitations or medical conditions. This level of care requires specialized attention, training, and safety protocols to ensure the resident's well-being.
At Coastal Woods Homecare, we have obtained the necessary fire clearance from the local fire authority, which legally permits us to admit and care for bedridden residents in compliance with Title 22 and the California Health and Safety Code. Our facility is designed to meet the specific safety standards required for the care of non-ambulatory individuals.
Our dedicated care team is thoroughly trained in providing daily support, including repositioning to prevent pressure injuries, personal hygiene, nutrition assistance, and other essential needs. Additionally, we ensure all staff members are prepared and capable of safely evacuating bedridden residents in case of an emergency, following clearly defined protocols and safety procedures.

Total Care
“Total care” refers to a level of support provided to residents who require comprehensive assistance with all aspects of their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). These individuals are often unable to care for themselves independently due to physical limitations, chronic illnesses, cognitive decline, or a combination of factors. Total care ensures that every fundamental need is met with dignity, compassion, and attention to individual preferences.

DEMENTIA CARE
At Coastal Woods Homecare, we are proud to offer a specialized and compassionate approach to caring for residents with dementia, grounded in full compliance with California Health and Safety Code and Title 22 CDSS regulations. Our philosophy of care emphasizes respect, patience, and person-centered support, designed to preserve dignity and enhance quality of life.
Dementia care requires more than just meeting basic needs—it requires a deep understanding of each individual’s story, challenges, and dignity. At Coastal Woods Homecare, we are dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and enriching environment for residents living with dementia, while strictly adhering to all CDSS regulations and Title 22 standards. Our goal is to help each resident live with comfort, purpose, and as much independence as possible—while giving families peace of mind that their loved one is in compassionate and capable hands.

HOSPICE CARE
"Hospice care" means a specialized form of multidisciplinary health care which includes the primary doctor, nurses provided by the hospice agency that is designed to provide palliative care, alleviate the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual discomforts of an individual who is experiencing the last phases of life due to the existence of a terminal non-contagious disease, and provide supportive care to the primary caregiver and the family of the hospice patient.
​If a resident's condition progresses to the point where hospice care is appropriate, a formal consent must be signed in coordination with the resident’s primary physician to begin hospice services. Making this transition at the right time can significantly enhance your loved one’s quality of life, focusing on comfort, dignity, and emotional support during a delicate stage of care.

It’s also important to note that hospice care does not always mean the end of life is imminent. In fact, some residents experience stabilization or even improvement under hospice care. In such cases, the hospice team may recommend transitioning the resident back to routine medical care under their primary physician.
​​At Coastal Woods Homecare, we have extensive experience working closely with a variety of hospice providers—including some of the nation’s largest agencies as well as highly respected local hospice teams. This collaborative approach ensures that residents and families receive personalized, seamless support throughout the process.

Once hospice services are initiated, a joint care plan is developed between the hospice agency and our care team. This plan aligns the medical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the resident, ensuring they receive the highest level of comfort and care in a familiar and supportive environment.
